Sessions

Session 1 – Save our Spines
Back injuries and exposure to hazardous chemicals are taking a significant toll on the nursing profession. During this workshop, attendees will learn what dangers exist in the health care environment and the protections that can be taken to prevent injuries.

Session 2 – Lateral Violence in Nursing
Nurses can be extremely hard on each other. In this introductory workshop, “Incivility and Interactive Workplace Violence: Addressing Lateral Violence in Nursing,” attendees will learn the danger signs of lateral violence and explore methods of dealing with inappropriate behavior.

Session 3 – Whose Job Is It?
Knowing what to delegate to unlicensed nursing personnel and LPNs/LVNs can be tricky. Attendees of this workshop will learn the legal parameters and identify professional guidelines for RN delegation decisions in Michigan, and review the RN competencies needed to effectively delegate as part of the Nursing Practice Act.

Session 4 – Blowing the Whistle
You are protected when reporting unsafe conditions by the whistleblower protection law! In this workshop, attendees will be exposed to the protections offered by the national whistleblower protection act and learn how those protections have been extended to health care providers. By using examples, attendees will be able to determine how and when to exercise their rights through whistleblower protection.
