On Tuesday, January 12, a 7.0 earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince, the capitol city of Haiti. Thousands are feared dead, the number of injured is growing every minute and health care professionals are desperately needed to help with medical aid. Donations of medical supplies, food and water are critical. MNA, in collaboration with the National Nurses United (NNU) RN Response Network is supporting the Haiti relief effort with nurse volunteers, supplies, and by distributing information to the media and citizens of Michigan.

"Send A Nurse" Disaster Relief Fund
National Nurses United has launched a relief effort to send registered nurses to Haiti. Nearly 8,000 nurses have already answered the call. There’s just one problem: the cost of sending them. Every dollar you donate will go to providing the resources nurses need to care for the survivors of this tragedy. Anyone who supports even a single day of Haiti nursing relief with a $250 donation will be sent an RNRN scrub in recognition of your generosity. Please support the Haiti nursing relief efforts at www.SendaNurse.org.

Nearly 8,000 registered nurses have now signed up to volunteer for Haiti disaster relief,  believed to be the largest outpouring of RN volunteers in U.S. history, reports National Nurses United which is coordinating the effort, and working around the clock to find locations for the nurses to deploy on the ground in Haiti. Nurses from other countries are signing up through the NNU program as well.
