Support Safe Patient Care LegislationThe prospect of safe patient care has taken two steps toward becoming law in Michigan! State Representative Jon Switalski, a Democrat from Warren, has introduced safe patient care legislation in the form of HB 5426. State Senator Rebekah Warren, a Democrat from Ann Arbor, has also introduced safe patient care legislation in the form of SB 1019. We must do our part to help them get the rest of their colleagues on board so that we can pass these bills sooner rather than later. Please take a minute to send a letter to your own legislator, asking him or her to support this legislation as it moves through the House of Representatives and Senate. Thank you! |
Tell Your Representative to VOTE NO on these anti-labor bills! Please take a minute to click on the link below to send a letter to your state representative asking them to vote NO on HB 5023, HB 5024, HB 5025 and HB 5026. The entire package is anti-labor, anti-union and anti-worker.
The more pressure we put on our elected officials when bad legislation comes across their desks, the better our chances will be to prevent the bills from getting to Governor Snyder for final approval. Show your outrage today! |
Tell Your Legislators to Protect Michigan's Kids From Harmful ChemicalsThe Michigan Network for Children’s Environmental Health is working hard to get legislation passed that will protect Michigan’s children from harmful chemicals found in many toys and products. Please take a minute to send a letter to your legislators asking them to support all four pieces of legislation that are on the table. It is so important that we remind our legislators that they hold the lives of children in their hands. Thank you! |
Don't Let Them Change Michigan's Auto No-Fault LawMichigan's Auto No-Fault law is one of the best reasons to live in Michigan because it means that auto accident victims are guaranteed to receive the medical care that they need. Having No-Fault insurance means that if you are in a catastrophic car accident, your medical needs will be covered no matter what you require. HB 4936 will allow people to have minimums as low as $500,000. Every nurse knows that $500,000 does not even begin to cover the high costs associated with surviving a devastating auto accident. Victims will have to sue the individual driving the other car in order to get the balance of the costs of their medical needs. The cost burden will shift to the government as people are forced to turn to Medicaid to pay for the treatment and care they need. Help nursing’s voice be strong by sending a letter to your state representative asking them NOT to support this legislation. |
Click on the Speak Out button to tell your State Rep to support stiffer penalties for assaulting a health care worker! Two important bills recently passed the Senate and moved to the State House…bills to prevent further outbreaks of violence against health care professionals, particularly in the hospital setting. Over the last several years, violence toward health care professionals has been on the rise. While the exact cause of this is hard to determine, the number of incidents continue to rise. SB 642 and SB 643 address the need for harsher punishments to be in place for those who assault or batter a health care professional when they are performing their duties for the benefit of a patient. Please send an email to your State Representative asking them to support these bills. |
