Submission Criteria for News and Articles

1. The content of the article should be Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) relevant news or news of interest to nursing in general; and be no more than 300 words in length. In some circumstances, a 300-word synopsis of the article may be published in Michigan Nurse, with the entirety of the article placed on the MNA website. Placement of articles is dependant on space with priority articles published first.

2. Received articles will be matched as closely as possible to the Editorial Calendar. Some articles may be held for several months to coincide with issue themes.

3. All materials submitted will be reviewed for consistency with MNA's mission and goals. MNA reserves the right to edit any and all materials. Substantial edits are provided to the author before publication. MNA also reserves the right to add artwork, photos, cutouts and graphic design elements to enhance the article.

4. Photos submitted with an article will be printed if space allows, and returned if a self-addressed stamped envelope is enclosed.

5. Articles should be typed double-spaced in Microsoft Word, with the author's name and credentials, date and page number in either a header or footer. All submissions can be accepted electronically either as an attachment to an email or in the body of an email. Photos can also be accepted electronically as a .jpg file scanned at 300 dpi.
