RESOLUTIONS

A resolution is a professional stand on pertinent issues regarding nursing, nursing students, MNSA members and constituent associations, health care and health needs of the public.

A resolution is composed of 1) "whereas" clauses, supported by documentation, summarizing the reasons and rational for the resolution, and 2) "resolved" clauses containing the MNSA's position to be taken on the issue or actions to be taken.

Resolutions are discussed at the business meetings during the MNSA Annual Convention, and the House of Delegates will decide if the resolution should be adopted. If a resolution has national focus it may be presented for consideration to the House of Delegates at the NSNA Annual Convention.

Any nursing student can write a resolution about any issue that is pertinent to nursing. It should include a purpose, rational or statements of fact that support the purpose, implication or what effects it will have on MNSA, plan of action, cost, and communication.

A resolution is used to inform other professional organizations and legislators about issues that are important to health care workers in hopes creating new laws or criteria that will better the community, workplace and/or nation.

For more information about writing resolutions or other questions please contact Emily Michel, MNSA 1st Vice President.
