MNA Legislative Update - Right to Work

Although the legislature is currently on their summer break, it is very important that we continue to work hard in our collective effort to keep bad legislation from moving forward and passing into law.

Along those lines, we have developed an action letter for you to send to your state legislators in the House and Senate regarding Right-To-Work zones in Michigan. If this legislation seriously starts to move in the fall, when the legislature returns, it could mean big negative changes for our great state. Changes that unionized nurses will want no part of.

States that are considered Right-To-Work have statistically shown that workers living there earn lower wages, have a lower standard of living, and are subjected to weak working conditions. That is not the kind of state that any of us want to be living in, especially when we’ve had the union system in place for so long and it’s be proven to work, decade after decade.

We want to do our part to move Michigan forward, not back, so please take a minute to read, edit and send this letter to your state legislators and let them know that you do NOT support this legislation because of the negative impact it will have on our state and our collective bargaining rights.

Staying informed is critical, as well as getting involved at the local level. Get yourself out there, call or write your legislators, let us help you set up in district meetings with them, and take some time to go to their monthly coffee hours. It is imperative that we all get involved and stay involved with this process.
