Statement from Michigan Nurses Association: McLaren Wrong to Keep Community In the Dark About Cheboygan Hospital Plans
The Michigan Nurses Association represents the registered nurses who have provided the highest level of medical care at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital to the community for years.
From John Karebian, Michigan Nurses Association Executive Director
“While it’s encouraging that Cheboygan-area residents will continue to have health care in some form, it is wrong for the hospital’s new owners to fail to disclose their plans with employees and the community. Despite numerous attempts to get more information from McLaren, all we have been told is that the hospital will close for some amount of time by April 3, when all employees will be terminated. McLaren has a responsibility to disclose what process it will use to keep patients safe during this transition and how it plans to staff the hospital with qualified employees after firing every single employee.”
