MNA OPEN POSITIONS

ORGANIZERS WANTED!

The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA), the largest registered nurse union in Michigan, is leading the charge to empower direct care nurses throughout the State of Michigan. MNA is searching for organizers to join our team in organizing efforts and advance proactive change for the issues of the staff nurse.

The healthcare industry ignores the needs of nurses and patients. Nurses at non-union hospitals are at the beck and call of the hospital 24 hours a day. In hospitals all over Michigan nurses have been forced to work mandatory overtime, even when they are so exhausted that patient care could suffer. Pension and healthcare benefits at retirement are very poor at many non-union hospitals. After nurses spend their entire work lives caring for others, when they retire from non-union hospitals, nurses are unable to afford adequate medical care themselves. The environment that staff nurses are expected to provide quality patient care in is unacceptable; nurses all over the state of Michigan are taking a stand to advocate not just for their patients but for themselves.

The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) has won the best registered nurse contracts in the Michigan including but not limited to: powerful and effective staffing language and ratios, the first ever in 2005 to negotiate a “no single lift (of patients)” policy, protections of a pension plan, health savings accounts, and a true voice in decisions that affect nursing practice.
