If you are having difficulty reading this version of NurseLine or accessing the links, go to www.minurses.org. THE NEED FOR HB 4333 On Friday, November 30, nurses from the Detroit Medical Center, community leaders and Ken Fletcher, MNA Director of Government Affairs, provided testimony to members of the House Labor Committee in support of HB 4443. When passed, HB 4443 will prevent the use of public funds in anti-union campaigns. It is suspected that the Detroit Medical Center has been using public funds to engage in anti-union activities against the DMC nurses as they work towards forming a union. To read the entire bill, click here and type in "4443" in the bill number box. RALLY FOR THE DMC RNS! When nurses march, horns honk, the media shows up, and administrators take notice! The highly successful rally in October that combined MNA members and Detroit Medical Center RNs boosted support, gained community awareness and drew the attention of the media. On Monday, December 10, another rally in support of the DMC RNs and in celebration of International Human Rights Day will be held in front of Harper Hutzel Hospital at 5:00 pm. You are invited to attend! All the details are on the attached flyer. To RSVP, please send your name to Carol Feuss. Bundle up and join us on Monday, December 10 for an exciting time of solidarity! SUPPORT THE NURSES! On Thursday, November 29, MNA Co-Executive Director John Karebian, along with MNA Board members John Armelagos and Katie Oppenheim, traveled to Kentucky to rally in support of the Appalachian Regional Health Care striking nurses. They report that the nurses are standing firm but are suffering financially in what appears to be a long campaign. You can now make a donation easily on-line here to help the nurses. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE MARCH! Wednesday, March 12 is the date for the 2008 Michigan Nurses MARCH! This energetic day of political activism for nurses at the Capitol begins at the Lansing Center in Lansing with all the latest news on current legislation and more. The day culminates with a march to the Capitol and visits to legislators. The 2007 Michigan Nurses MARCH! was a great day and the 2008 MARCH! promises to be even better. Plan to attend now!
