TOWN HALL ON HEALTH CARE PLANNED The Council for Excellence in Government, a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, DC. is hosting a Health Care Town Hall in Detroit on March 26. ILO RULES "SUPERVISOR" DEFINITION VIOLATES STANDARDS The International Labor Organization’s (ILO’s) Committee on Freedom of Association ruled this week that the NLRB’s definitions of “supervisor” in the Oakwood cases violates freedom of association standards by excluding staff that only occasionally perform supervisory duties from protection of the National Labor Relations Act. The United States is bound to follow international core labor standards as a member of the ILO. For more on this ruling, courtesy of the AFL-CIO, click here. ALPENA RNS CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY, LOSS OF BENEFITS The RNs of Alpena Regional Medical Center (ARMC) are currently working without a contract and are facing a variety of concerns in their negotiations. HACKLEY, MNA SETTLE ON MISSING MATERIALS Hackley Hospital and MNA have come to an agreement on missing materials regarding the proposed merger between Hackley and Mercy General under Trinity Health. For more details, click here. ALLEGAN RNS GAIN NEW STAFFING LANGUAGE The registered nurses at Allegan General Hospital have ratified a three year contract which includes new staffing language.
