(Lansing) Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm is scheduled to address nearly 700 nurses and nursing students on Thursday April 14, 2005 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing at the 2005 annual Nurses Impact advocacy day meeting.

Sponsored by the Michigan Nurses Association, the voice for Michigan’s 117,000 Registered Nurses, and the Coalition of Michigan Organizations of Nursing (COMON), the 2005 annual Nurses Impact meeting will focus discussions on efforts to promote safe patient care in Michigan and confront issues concerning the nationwide nursing crisis.

Scheduled events at Nurses Impact 2005 include a panel discussion with legislative leaders regarding the state of the health care industry.

Nurses may still register for Nurses Impact by contacting the Michigan Nurses Association at (517) 349-5640.

The Michigan Nurses Association, nurses’ voice for 100 years, is the largest nurses’ union in the State of Michigan. The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) promotes the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace, fosters high standards of nursing practice, and lobbies the legislature and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and recipients of nursing services. MNA is a constituent member of the American Nurses Association and the United American Nurses, as well as an affiliate of the AFL-CIO.
