FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Barry-Eaton District Health Department
selects Michigan Nurses Association for representation
Charlotte, MI – The Unit II professional
staff at the Barry-Eaton County District Department
(BEDHD) voted to have the Michigan Nurses Association
(MNA) be their certified bargaining agent.
The Unit II professional staff includes: Registered
Nurses, Health Educators, Dieticians, Social Workers,
and several other classifications.
“We chose MNA over our independent union
because MNA brings the professionalism and experience
we need to address our concerns, says Linda Minshall,
RN, BSN, President of the Barry-Eaton District Health
Department Staff Council. “MNA has been very
successful in negotiating fair wages and benefits,
which we need in order to keep nurses from leaving
the Department.”
“We will continue to work with the BEDHD
professional staff to build a strong, cohesive union
as they come together to address their issues and
improve their work place,” says Michigan Nurses
Association Labor Organizer Terri Premo-Peaphon,
RNC.
The BEDHD professional staff will be voting on
bylaws and identifying bargaining team members in
the near future.
