Michigan nurse selected as one of the 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare

Okemos, MI - Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) President Cheryl L. Johnson, RN, has been selected as one of the "100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare," in Modern Healthcare's 2006 competition.

Cheryl, the only staff nurse to be recognized in the competition, is also President of the United American Nurses, a Vice President of the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW), and a member of JCAHO’s Nursing Advisory Council. She is a Vice President of the National AFL-CIO Executive Committee and is their only practicing nurse.

“Cheryl has a dedicated commitment and passion to improve the work lives of nurses throughout Michigan and the United States. She is a recognized visionary and a demonstrated leader who can move mountains,” said John Karebian, MNA Associate Executive Director for Labor Relations.

She has been a practicing staff nurse for 30 years, and is currently a staff nurse in critical care at the University of Michigan Medical Center, which is represented by the MNA for the purposes of collective bargaining. Cheryl earned her BSN from the University of Michigan School of Nursing and is a resident of Brighton, MI.
