Memorial plans set for Michigan Nurses Association President Cheryl L. Johnson, RN
Okemos, MI – A memorial service will be held for Michigan Nurses Association President Cheryl L. Johnson, RN on Monday, November 12, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the Ford Amphitheatre at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
In addition to tributes from MNA and University of Michigan Professional Nurse Council staff and leadership, the following individuals are expected to pay tribute to this extraordinary nursing leader:
- John Sweeney, President, AFL-CIO
- Marge Calarco, RN, Chief of Nursing Services, University of Michigan Health System
- Ann Converso, RN, President, and Susan Bianchi-Sand, National Executive Director, United American Nurses;
- R. Thomas Buffenbarger, President, IAM
- Norma Amsterdam, RN, 1199 SEIU, United Healthcare Workers
Ms. Johnson was admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital on Friday, October 19, following a ruptured brain aneurysm. She died on Sunday, October 28, surrounded by family and friends.
Messages of sympathy to Cheryl’s family may be addressed to Nikki Briggs or Mitch Gorkiewicz in care of the Michigan Nurses Association, 2310 Jolly Oak Road, Okemos, MI 48864
The Cheryl Johnson, RN Memorial Fund has been established for Cheryl’s family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fund in care of the Michigan Nurses Association. Contributions can also be made to the fund at Capitol National Bank, 4792 Marsh Road, Okemos, MI 48864.
