HUNDREDS OF NURSES AND NURSING STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN POLITICAL ACTIVISM DAY AT THE CAPITOL

LANSING – The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) will hold its political activism day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 12. The Michigan Nurses MARCH! will take place at the Lansing Center beginning at 8:00 am, with a rally at the Capitol steps at 11:00 a.m. Over four hundred nurses and nursing students are scheduled to attend.
           
Among the activities planned:
· The Big Show with Michael Patrick Shiels (1240 WJIM) will broadcast from the Lansing Center beginning at 5:30 am.
· The 2008 MNA Friend of Nursing award will be presented to Representative Fred Miller (D-Mt. Clemens) at 9:30 am.
· The nurses and nursing students will march as a group from the Lansing Center to the steps of the Capitol at approximately 10:50 am.
           
Sponsored by the Michigan Nurses Association, the voice for Michigan’s 119,000 registered nurses, the Michigan Nurses MARCH! will focus on MNA’s legislative platform, including safe patient care, safe lifting and moving guidelines, and the Public Funds Protection Act. Michigan Chief Nurse Executive Jeanette Klemczak, RN, MSN will provide an update on the Michigan Nursing Corps at 9:15 am.
