RNS at VNA of SE Michigan gain control over workload in new contract
Oak Park, MI – The registered nurses of the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeast Michigan (VNASM), represented by the Michigan Nurses Association (MNA), have ratified a new three-year agreement.
The negotiating committee focused primarily on language to address workload levels, with attention to economic improvements.
“The MNA members at VNASM are a solid group,” said Fred Vocino, MNA Labor Representative. “Their elected leaders are vigilant and thoughtful, which really helps in uncertain economic times and where changes in the workplace are occurring. The agreement we ratified should help manage the workload of home care nurses and deliver the economic rewards needed to recruit and retain qualified staff.”
“We made some changes that promise RNs will have a greater opportunity to manage their workload to better focus on quality patient care,” said Kathy Glover, VNASM Staff Council Chair. “This will help the employer meet new regulations and performance standards. At our meetings, members showed that they are ready to work to continue giving high quality patient care with a new labor contract that supports their critical roles in the home care industry.”
