MNA endorses Cherry for Governor
Lansing, MI – The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) has officially endorsed Lt. Governor John D. Cherry, Jr. as their candidate of choice for Governor of the state of Michigan. Cherry met with the Board of Directors in August and was unanimously chosen to represent Michigan’s nurses and their issues.
“John D. Cherry, Jr. has the experience and leadership qualities to make a significant difference in the way health care is practiced in Michigan”, said Diane Goddeeris, RN, MNA President. “We are confident that his strong focus on issues such as nurse staffing, access to health care and the nursing shortage will be an integral part of MNA’s continued plans to support nursing throughout Michigan.”
“I’m excited to have the support of the Michigan Nurses Association,” stated John D. Cherry, Jr. “Some of the greatest issues facing Michigan have to do with our health care system and having the voice of professional nursing at my side will be a great asset as Governor. MNA is known for its strength and its dedicated work in fighting for safe patient care for Michigan citizens. I am pleased to have the MNA as my partner and look forward to making great strides in improving health care in Michigan together.”
MNA announced the endorsement during their annual State Convention, held October 1-4 in Bay City, MI.
