We are seeking dedicated and experienced union organizers to join our exciting campaigns with registered nurses.
Bring your organizing skills to the union that is leading in building a statewide RN movement.
MNA is building member power to ensure nurses voices are heard when Hospital CEOs try to put profits before patients. The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is the largest, most effective union for registered nurses in Michigan. As the voice for RNs across the state, MNA advocates for nurses and their patients at the Capitol, in the community, and at the bargaining table.
Organizers are responsible for carrying out all activities of MNA related to both internal and external organizing, working individually or part of a team, under the direction of the Associate Executive Director of Organizing.
Activities include building committees, motivating and developing leaders, organizing around issues, dealing with employers’ union busting campaigns, tracking worker support, and showing leadership. Much of this happens through one-on-one conversations with nurses that may occur at their home or worksite. Responsibilities will also include strategy, planning, and evaluation of campaigns to ensure that nurses are on the path to building power in their workplace.
Applicants should be able to develop strong leaders within our local bargaining units and build an effective organization with high membership to have the power to fight and win strong contracts. This will require establishing and maintaining effective work relationships, developing long term strategic plans for our campaigns, and coordinating with members, political allies, the community, and other constituents.
At least 1 year of union organizing experience required.
Salary and Benefits: Excellent salary range ($61,000-96,000) depending upon experience. Outstanding benefits offered through our collective bargaining agreement including comprehensive family health & dental plan, generous retirement plan and paid time off.
This position is based in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and may lead to significant travel within the state.
